Hello everyone, welcome to the my fun Broadway Tablescape. I am happy to share my tablescape- Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Gold-digging showgirls Lorelei Lee and her friend Dorothy set out to snare wealthy husbands on a luxury cruise in this musical version of the Anita Loos novel. Starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. Their motto is : Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend."
Broadway shows are usually a blast. My husband and I went to London years ago, while he was on a business trip. We saw Mama Mia, which was fantastic. The whole audience got up and started singing. We also saw The Lion King and Cats. New York is a great place to see broadway plays.
I started this tablescape with a black pinched wheel tablecloth. A gold overlay with a scroll design is the topper. I dressed my chairs in black pillow cases with sparkly gold chair bands.
I also hung red curtains for a dramatic look on each side of the mirror. The fun Marilyn Monroe graphic I purchased from Amazon.
"A smile is the best makeup any girl can wear"
I created red candy lips for a party favor. They really stand out against the black dinner plate and gold salad plate. Black goblets with a red lip sticker to go with the theme.
Gold glitter square chargers start the plate stack, followed by black dinner plates and gold salad plates.
Gotta have red roses and lots of bling!
An overhead shot to enjoy.
Twilight hour outside. My favorite time of evening to capture photos.
Many thanks to Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate . I hope you visit each and everyone participating in this fun tablescape blog hop.
Thanks for visiting!

ReplyDeleteMwah, Linda! Bravo to your interpretation of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes! Love that graphic & drape effect on the mirror, but you were super creative with the chair backs. High drama, and I see this as a great girlfriend pampering evening tablescape.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Fun Linda! Bring on the diamonds! Those red lips are hilarious!! I haven't seen this one, I must see if I can find it in movie version somewhere~ Your details are wonderful, the curtains, the gold black and red, it's all wow!!

How fun! I love catching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes when it is on Turner Classic Movies! The treatment on the mirror is fantastic! The gold salad plates are fantastic, and your red lips are a perfect way to top off your plate stack! Thank you so much for being a part of this tablescape blog hop!
ReplyDeleteLinda, you really took this theme to heart. What glamour! What sparkle. I've only seen this musical on T.V. Years ago, but I remember some of the songs. Love the red lips and using pillowcases to cover the chairs. What are chair bands?
ReplyDeleteSo fun, Linda! I love all the glitter and bling and especially the Monroe vinyl on the mirror. Great interpretation - How I've never seen this one, I'll never know - I'll be renting the movie version!

ReplyDeleteLinda, I am blown away by your sophisticated, elegant table!! Love all the bling and the colors are just perfect! Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative, you did a terrific job with the theme.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I have never seen this show in a theater, even summer theater, but I do love the movie and the book. I laughed at your comment about the London show you attended. I have always found London audiences to be more engaged and the actors to have more interaction with the audience too. Standing and singing or clapping along with the last five minutes of a happy show is so much fun! Your table captured the atmosphere perfectly, with the little touches like the red lips (!) and the lipstick stickers on the glasses. And yes, of course there must be red roses for the stars! Linda
