Time for another Blogger tutorial. Have you noticed sometimes, you get a comment on your blog with a link. Most of the time, it is spam or some advertiser trying to take advantage of your blog. Ugh! Drives me crazy! I was telling my hubby about this post and it said, sounds like a snoozer. zzzzz...ha ha.
I personally think this post is very helpful, because we all hate spam! He is right, there are no pretty tables to be seen, but the info is important.
Example:
This involves adding a code to your Blogger. You can do this two ways.
#1 Method
One way is to add the CSS code in the advanced portion of your theme.
This is easy!
Go to Theme. Click Advanced and then click Add CSS. See example.
Add this code in the box like above. Then click enter on your keyboard. Click Apply to Blog.
.comment-content a {
display: none;
}
If that doesn't work, and you are brave enough to edit your html, then you can add a different code in your theme's html.
Method #2
This method remove the hyperlinked text from your comments.
Locate </body> in your theme html. Paste this below code above </body>
<script src='https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js'/>
<script>$('.comment-content a[rel$=nofollow]').hide());</script>
If you happen to have the script in red already in your theme template, then skip copying that part. Always preview. If all looks good, then save theme.
Always back up your blog template. Let me know how it works for you. This is me sometimes...LOL

Hello, welcome to LifeandLinda. I am from Northern California. I enjoy blogging, Designing Blogs, Decorating, cooking, entertaining, gardening and clogging. I hope you enjoy your visit.
You have been very busy with lovely blog makeovers, Linda! I did noticed Jan's new look and thought it quite beautiful! I should have known it was one of your designs! You are the best! As for learning how to remove links from a blogger's comment - it's still above my learning ability (I think I have a mental block) and I will never be brave enough to follow your clear and precise instructions.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Thank you! I moderate comments, but sometimes one that looks real sneaks through with a link. You are very helpful!
ReplyDeleteI just delete those spam comments. Easy peasy!
ReplyDeleteI just added the code to mine. Thanks my Fairy Blog Mother!

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for another great blog tutorial; you're so kind to share these helpful bits with us. You have certainly had a busy week, my friend! Thank you so much for your good work on my blog; I know I will enjoy it. Have a good (and restful) weekend!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
I did it! I think!!! Thank you for ALL you do for ALL of us. Every once in a while I get something that links to a porn site or someone's sales site. Drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, dear Linda. Fondly-Diana
I'm not sure I get it, Linda. I've been caring for my mom in Ohio and have not been blogging. I just popped in to say hello.
ReplyDeleteLoving all your blog makeovers and updates. You are always so gracious to share these tid-bits to help bloggers (though I leave all those details up to you for my blog!). I set my comments section up to comments not allowed without approval after 30 days past the original post date and boy did that cut down the spam. They seem to prowl in the older posts so it has been working well for me.
ReplyDeleteJust popped across from Denise's blog - good job!
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to get hints from fellow bloggers. I'm on Wordpress and they are pretty good at blocking spam. Sometimes too good and I'll find a legitimate blogger in my spam file that I have to mark as not spam. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda, I need to do this as I do have problems with this from time to time. I'll go try it I think. Happy week!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very helpful tutorial..
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell how to restrict the spam comments without link..
Great info Linda! I'm afraid to try it but perhaps my son will know what to do. LOL I have my blog up and running again. So please stop by when you have a moment. http://ediemariesattic.blogspot.com
