When we decided to take the covered patio and turn it into a larger
dining room, we also worked on the Family room. It had a low beam
in the ceiling we couldn't stand and a small narrow sun room.
We got rid of the low beam and took out the sun room, made it part of
our Family room. We then added new windows, skylights and a corner
gas fireplace. I had always wanted a fireplace, so I love it!
Before...................
See the low beam....
We also bought new furniture and a new ceiling fan. Notice the covered patio with the slider.
That area outside we enclosed and made it our new dining room.
We also got rid of the wood floor, which was damaged and the grey tile and replace it with
Philadelphia Light Travertine. We love it!
Here's the new Look!
Ok...here is the old covered patio, we converted to our new dining room. The contractor
had to take the roof off to create a higher ceiling.
Finally a fireplace and a mantle to decorate.....fun, cozy and warm....
When we started this space, we weren't sure what the room was going to be. We were thinking entertaining room, wine room.
You can see we gained a balcony for the upstairs guest room.
This was the old sunroom.
Woohoo! corner fireplace that I always dreamed of having. If I had wish, the room would have a dramatic high ceiling, but there are bedrooms upstairs so we had to settle with the ceiling height. I am very thankful to have this fireplace. In fact, my husband loves it. Remote control for a fire....
Shaping up! Starting to look like something. My creative juices are coming on to finish this room.
I visualized a rock wall with a niche. We hired a muralist to paint a Tuscany scene.
What do you think? My husband loves his wine refrigerator combo. The top is dual tempature
white and red wine and the bottom is refrigerator drawers. We added a bar sink. icemaker,
and drawer dishwasher. Just waiting for our new dining room table and chairs.
Here's picture of the new dining set we ordered. The chair leather will be brown and the fabric is different
than shown. We are hoping to get the new set in November.
Here are samples of the fabric and leather for the chairs.

Wow...great transformations...just beautiful! Love your ceiling fan! Welcome to Blogland!
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take you guys to do these projects? We built a new home and it took three years. After we moved in I took a full year off and didn't make any decisions. Now I am re-painting and fixing some of the things that just didn't work.
