We invited my husband's sister and her husband. We spent two weeks on Kauai on the shores of Poipu, the sunniest part of the island. They had never been, so it was a lovely experience for them both. They have called it paradise.
This is our view, while we were in Kauai. We have a timeshare at the Marriott's WaioHai
Here's a picture of the resort, complete with palapas, many pools and spas. They even have grilling stations and hammocks.
There is so much to do on Kauai. From Sunset cruises, zip lines, cave exploring, bicycling, helicopter rides, snorkeling, diving, kayaks, Luau's, Waimea Canyon, botanical gardens, atv's, swimming and more. If you go for a sunset cruise, the best is Captain Andy's.
Orchids hibiscus, and ginger.
Lovely island food. There many restaurants around to enjoy the fresh Hawaiian cuisine.
They have a newer shopping center with many new restaurants, including ice cream, Bubba's Burgers
and more.
Chef Roy Yamaguchi has a new one called, Eating House 1849.
Our favorite cocktails. A Lava Flow is
basically a Pina Colada with strawberry puree in the middle, like lava flowing. (often it is swirled in some or just blobbed on the top)
Every morning, they would show up. The rooster was very protective and ruled over his kingdom and shooed away any other roosters. They all roosted in the nearby trees.
Great fun at the luau with plenty of food to eat. The Smith Family Luau is one of the best!
They also include a nighttime show...hula dancers and a fire dancer.
There are many waterfalls to look at on the island.
A few pictures of my hubby bicycling, the guys relaxing at the The Trading Post,
me with one of the very old tortoises and Kilauea Lighthouse.
Ok, I won't bore you with anymore pictures.

Quite exceptional.Happy for you!
Absolutely gorgeous photos, Linda, what a gorgeous, relaxing place! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, I never have been to Kauai but have been to Maui and Oahu. My sisters wedding was held on the beach in Maui with a traditional Hawaiian feast. Oh such beautiful memories and family fun! Aren't the luau's so much fun? Thanks for sharing such a great tour of Kauai.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Loved seeing your island pics. This could be a travel brochure as you covered every topic anyone would want to know to visit here. You and your hubby are a beautiful couple and I love your hair cut!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful trip.
Have a blessed Sunday!
Hugs, CM
Picture perfect! Hawaii always sounds so intriguing. Love the beautiful flowers they have there. It looks like you guys have learned to enjoy all the fun that is offered! Glad for you that you had such a wonderful time! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteYou're smart to be on the sunny side of Kauai and not the rainy side! The first time My Rare One and I went to Maui, we kind of became Luau Sluts and attended four of them! Haven't felt the need to go to one since -- guess we OD'd!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of you & your sweetheart!!! Wishing you a belated but no less sincere "Happy Birthday"...I know each one you get to celebrate is so very special. I'm so glad you were able to go have such a wonderful time in paradise. My baby sis moved to Maui after her DH passed away & she is loving it!!! If I didn't have my DD & grandkids in Ohio, I'd be moving there too! Thanks for taking us along on your vacation...it was spectacular.
ReplyDeleteOh my Linda, what a glorious place to visit! I think I told you that my late beloved and I went to Maui and Kauai for our 25th anniversary. After seeing your pictures, I would love to go back. We stayed at the Hyatt on Kauai, and it was wonderful. I remember the lava flow drinks and was just telling a friend that was going to drink one for me. I'm so glad you had a fabulous time!
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are green, today! LOL
I can see myself laying on a hammock on beautiful Kauai :)
DeleteWe appreciate the condolences! Thank you!!
Ok, I've added something new to my blog.
Exploring with a little HTML....not much ;)
HI Linda,
ReplyDeleteLoved all your pics, they are all beautiful and a great reminder of our trip to that exact
same location about 25 years ago. Kauai and poipu beach are just the best.........
I can see you had a wonderful time, as did we.......how could you not!! lol
We stayed at a wonderful Stoffers resort and it was really great, but we hear it is no
longer there due to a hurricane some years back, bummer!
So glad you had a safe and beautiful trip and no you did not bore us with your pics
I could see tons more..............thanks for sharing them, it was fun.
Blessings for settling back into normal life,
Nellie
Sigh, what a wonderful vacay! You look happy and adorable and healthy in your pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, a timeshare in paradise!!! Can't do better than that! Loved seeing all the pics. Especially the FOOD:):)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!! There's just nothing like the food and cocktails, the flowers and beaches, fresh pineapple and coconut, macadamia nuts and every other feature one can think of on the islands. It's been awhile since I've been there but thoroughly enjoyed every trip! I am not one for long flights anymore ~ 8 hrs from here ~ so will enjoy via your visits.
