Grilled Watermelon Salad

Sorry for the absence.  I just needed some time away to grieve for our Sasha.
I have been trying to work on a few things on my blog.  Adding Mailchimp for my newletters - posts, instead of Google's Feedburner. Boy, that can be a chore!

I wanted to share my Patriotic salad I made for the 4th of July.  This salad is great!  Healthy and so easy to make. Grilling the watermelon adds a different texture.....and yes....I cut out stars.
You can use any cookie cutter and get creative.

For dessert, I made 3 berry  individual cobblers.  I baked them ahead of time, so I wouldn't be running around trying to get everything together.  I had to use the star cookie cutter again to go with the theme.

Naturally I served vanilla ice cream with the cobblers.

My husband and I grilled Brats,  hot dogs and chicken kabobs.

Better late than never.  I want to thank each and every one of you for your heartfelt messages, hugs and cards. Thanks for being a reader of Life and Linda.  We all have our ups and downs.

I hope I have  MailChimp set up properly.  Let me know if you have any issues.

Stay tuned for my Oriental Tablescape.

  7. Your salad looks delicious!
I wish you peace. Losing a family pet/member is so hard. Our Mikey left this world over a month ago, and I still have moments where I think he will pop around the corner when we drive up the driveway. So many memories. Remember those to help.

  8. I need a star cutout! I was looking for something fun for my apple pie and that would've been great! Looks like you had a nice 4th! I've never tried grilled watermelon but I hear it adds something nice to the flavor! The salad looks enticing and the berry cobblers look yummy!

  11. Good Afternoon!
Well goodness this looks so festive, fun and tasty. I have grilled pineapple and it is wonderful so I and can just imagine how tasty watermelon is too. I am going to buy a few more cookie cutters in different shapes, so I can do exactly what you have done, it dresses everything up so much.
I have been thinking of you and I am so glad you felt like doing a post-
    Mail Chimp works great!
Hope your weekend will be a restful and pleasant one~

  12. You had a fun and festive 4th as I can see, Linda! Your star shaped fruit and cookies are so cool...I'll remember those cookie cutters...I have hundreds! We are on the same wavelength, I posted about grilling fruit today. Isn't it awesome? Let's spread the word!

I know you are still grieving and will be for a long time. Know we wish you well. Peace if anything. My dogs are getting older (9 and 11) so I have a sort of Bucket List for them. Kind of simple---minimum 1 hour outdoors with ME per day. A piece of turkey as a snack at 4:00 sharp (and they know 4:00!). A few games of hide and seek around the house every week. Ice in their water bowl every day, a trip to Petco to sniff other dogs, a visit with cousins Tulo and Rusty. I keep adding and taking tons of pics. I hope this doesn't make you feel sad. I lost my best friend Shadow 11 years ago and regretted a lot. But he still had a great life. I just try to stay in the moment now. I hope you understand.

    Love and hugs...
