Hello friends, sorry I was missing most of this week. PG&E turned off our power along with 800,00 other households. They anticipated strong winds, so to prevent any wild fires, they decided to do a shut down. After the devastating fire in Paradise, Ca. last year, they are being extra cautious.
Having said so, many of us are at their mercy. Just to set the record straight, we did not have any extreme wind. Gov. Newsom said this cannot be the new normal. Anyway, on to something pretty.
I set a pumpkin themed table in the breakfast room. I was inspired after I saw the darling sign from Michaels that said Hey Pumpkin. Cuteness!
I am using our pumpkin soup tureen for the flowers. You can look around your house and use different vessels for flowers. Sometimes I buy a pumpkin and carve out the pumpkin, add a bowl for water and then add the flowers. I find adding a bowl or container inside the pumpkin to hold water very important.
Years ago, I took a floral arranging class and she showed us how to make a pumpkin floral centerpiece. She did not use a bowl inside. Needless to say, my former table was ruined due to the moisture from the water.
I love these pretty leaf placemats. I am using chargers that look like wood. They were on sale at Michaels. I added creamy dinner plates from American Atelier with a fall themed salad plate. Add a mini pumpkin and you have a lovely table.
The floral centerpiece is a mixture of blooms from our local Safeway.
The bronze flatware is a favorite. I finally gave in and bought these from Horchow on sale. They are heavy and so pretty. Perfect for a fall table.
We are so happy we have power again. No more glamping!
