Chinese New Year this year is the Year of the Ox. The Ox is in the second place of all the zodiac animals. A myth is the Jade Emperor decided the placement by order in which they arrived to his party. Actually the ox was the first to arrive, however the Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride. So the rat being nimble jumped down and therefore was the first animal to arrive. Darn that Rat!
My husband and I are both Tigers. Tigers come in third place. Tigers are courageous and active, who love a good challenge and adventure. Which animal are you?
I even folded the napkins to look like a kimono with black chop sticks.
The chinese lantern I decorated with Koi and a Lily.
I have had this Sake set for years. Years ago, I hosted a larger chinese dinner party.
Lots of prep for the different dishes. I was a slave in the kitchen.
This sake is a blend of two sakes. Hints of honeydew, papaya, anise and roasted nuts, full-bodied with a long, smooth finish.
Of course the menu is Chinese food. We have our favorites.
Paul loves Moo Shu Pork. I like Kung Pao Chicken with Fried rice, plus many more.

I don't know how you do it, but somehow your entire dining room gets transformed with every tablescape...always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteStunning, just stunning! Lots of "good luck" red too! I'm a Rooster. I don't know when the Rooster showed up at the party!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous. Love how you wrapped the napkins. It all looks so great.

ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I'm crazy about the kimono wine bottle cover, so cute! Your decorations are beautiful, you've captured it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I LOVE this tablescape and all the decor! I am very much drawn to Asian design (not really sure why). I almost bought those plates, they're are so rich in color. The wine bottle cover and tassels on the chandelier are perfect. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love this tablesetting. The kimono napkin fold is amazing and so is the chandelier with the tassels! What fun to dine at this table and the fabulous WS plates.
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, those plates are stunning!! Your kimono napkins are darling and your lantern is so pretty. I’ll take the Kung Pao chicken with you!!
ReplyDeleteYou decorated such a pretty table for the Chinese new year Linda. I bet that large dinner party you hosted was a huge hit. It's a lot of work entertaining and in the kitchen but worth it! :)
ReplyDeleteLinda, I so wanted those plates when I first saw them.. The colors are gorgeous! I did buy the golden dragon chop stick holders and one of the dragon napkin rings.. I always like to set a pacesetting for Chinese New Year. Happy Year of the Ox.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors, patterns and details here! Especially the wine bottle cover and the plates of course! I have platters from that collection; I show them with a different set of plates.
