Our Palapa has a Makeover

The palapa project is complete! It was my idea to raise the palapa, so we could have a better view of the pool house/cabana.  It also needed re-thatching.  Paul wanted to use fire-retardant thatching for safety measures.  Brett from Palapapros and his crew came out and tore off the old thatching.  They removed the top and re-enforced it. They used taller poles and new stringers and lath.

They then proceeded to make the top stronger by adding metal straps. It definitely opens the space more.

This is the fan I ordered the newly remodeled palapa. With the palapa being a lot taller, we felt we could use a larger fan also a longer downrod for good air flow.

-As you can tell in this photo  above, the pool house was cut off by the palapa.  After raising it, we can now see the pool house. Compare the two photos.
My husband even said I was right raising it and also having the guys move it a little to the left.

We are pretty happy with everything now.  The pool had a makeover, a new pool house complete with a mini kitchen and bathroom.

The outdoor shower was added and the outdoor kitchen also got a makeover.  A new planter was put in.  We are set!
I waited almost 20 years to get some lights in this pool.  Now we have cool LED lights that change colors.

A great place to dine alfresco.

This tropical planter was also a new addition.  unfortunately those pesky squirrels are eating the flowers.  I guess I will stick with cannas, garlic and Blue Boa.

Love the new outdoor shower.  Kudos to my hubby.

  5. You have created such a gorgeous outdoor environment. The colors are all glorious. Our gardeners use a spray that keeps the squirrels and rabbits away from our flowers. I don’t know the brand name, but you might check with your nursery. It makes. A big difference. Have a glorious summer poolside!
