I thought I would share another dreamy getaway. Our Honeymoon some twenty plus years ago to Hayman Island Resort. My husband planned this amazing trip. We flew Business class to Australia. Those days were so wonderful when flying. Champagne, hot roasted nuts, ice cream, chocolates . A trip of a lifetime. You were treated like royalty. Our flight was 14 hours long.
*This post is picture intensive.
Hayman Island Resort
Opera House and Harbour Bridge
We flew into Sydney and spent a few days there. Of course we visited the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We saw climbers way up high. We were exhausted after our long trip, so jet lag was affecting us both, but we stayed awake.
We took a boat ride around to see the sights. So much to see. We also visited the Japanese Gardens. We then proceeded to our Honeymoon destination.
After flying into the nearby island, Hamilton, we were picked up via Hayman Island's yacht. They served us champagne and snacks on our way to the Hayman island. It was a 45 minute ride. Since we spent 17 glorious days at Hayman, they upgraded us to a Suite. A dreamy oasis of pure white silica sandy beaches with gorgeous palm trees and sparkling water.
Hayman Island, such a beautiful resort. One of the top 10 in the whole world when we went on our Honeymoon. Hayman Island is set in the fabulous Whitsunday Islands, close to the Great barrier Reef, off Australia's north Queensland coast. The Whitsunday island are know for their elegance and superior location. This resort is a unique luxury resort.
Here we are sitting in the captain's chair. Excited about our new adventure.
Excuse the photos.
You can't visit Australia without seeing a kangaroo.
The ship had a heart shaped spa on board, so we jumped at the chance to get a photo.
A beautiful suite to enjoy our honeymoon. After exploring the island, we took a cruise to the inland where Paul and I visited a rain forest. We rented a car and drove up the mountain. You are driving on the other side of the road, so it can be challenging.
Daintree Rain Forest. It is one of the largest in Australia and the oldest. It is over 135 million years old.We ate lunch at this lovely treehouse restaurant. Right in the middle of the Rain Forest. Below is a video on Daintree
Such beautiful and lush trees and plants plus birds and critters.
Years ago, my hair was longer and curly.
Bam Bam restaurant specializes in traditional Asian cuisine. Thai, Chinese, & Korean
Pacific is the island signature restaurant. There are stunning views to be seen. It was the first time I had a hamburger with an egg.
We spent time around the pools with our favorite cocktails. The famous Hayman pool is 7 times Olympic size.
Here is Whitehaven beach, only accessible by boat. This dream like paradise is so different than any other beach. made of 98% pure silica, so soft and fine. It doesn't retain the heat, so walking around is a pleasure.
You have to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. We had a speed boat ride to another nearby secluded island and spent some time snorkeling. We saw a giant blue clam and gorgeous fish. Hayman Island has lots of activities. They have a large Rec center. You can snorkel, kayak, jet ski, swim, boating, walking tours, hiking, windsurfing, and catamaran sailing.
A variety of birds inhabit the island. A truly tropical paradise. Hayman island has 5 fabulous restaurants. A variety of dining experience to please every palate.
Australian Seafood, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Italian and Mediterranean. International chefs work their magic here.

Amazing nights on Hayman Island.
If you are a looking for an amazing island getaway, Hayman Island is sure to please. I am sharing video of the island.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Debra. It was a fantasy honeymoon.
DeleteOh, Linda. What a beautiful memory for you. It looks gorgeous. I always love hearing where people went on their honeymoons. Yours was beautiful. Mine, on the other hand, was a trip in my 55 chevy to Reno. Stayed overnight, got married in a chapel, and drove back to Santa Cruz so Jerry could be at work the next morning. It was in October so I wore a grey and black dress and a black hat. (What did I know, but can you believe my mom let me?) We did have a nice party later with all our friends and family and we will celebrate 61 years next anniversary. So guess it wasn't too bad!!..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. Congrats on being married 61 years. How sweet to drive off in a 55 Chevy. Reno is a fun town and I am sure you have plenty of memories.

I would love to snorkel or dive the Great Barrier Reef someday; alas, I'm not sure it will ever happen with the state of our world these days. What month were you there with that weather? A late fall or winter month?
