We actually threw a dinner party over the weekend and invited neighbors.
Sunflowers are definitely a flower in abundance right now. I paired sunflowers with bees and Mackenzie Child's Courtly Check.
Black Checkered Round Placemat with Ruffle from Crown Linens topped with a yellow placemat. American Atelier white dinner plate, with courtly Check plate and then William Sonoma Bee plate. Mackenzie Child's flatware goes perfectly with the checks theme.
For two of the plate stacks, I used these woven yellow placemats and sunflower salad plates. The floral spray is from the local farmer's market.
Dinner menu
Bolognese Sauce With Fettucine
Strings Copycat Salad Dressing
This is so yummy and easy to make. String's salad consists of lettuce, carrots, red onion, cherry tomatoes, sun flower seeds, raisins and croutons.

Hi, Linda!!!!! Wow…you pulled out all the stops for this one! End-of-summer sunflowers are always such a welcome sight, and paired with honeybees…perfect!🌻🐝 I live in Missouri, right on the Kansas border, but in recent years the number of sunflower fields this way have greatly diminished.😕 There used to be sunflowers as far as the eye could see while driving the highways.
ReplyDeleteNice that you had a chance to have guests in to enjoy your creative and culinary skills. Have a relaxing holiday weekend!
Your table is gorgeous and your meal sounds to die for. That cake is a work of art in itself! I adore sunflowers and will probably be snaring a few at the farmer's market tomorrow. They look terrific with the checks and the cute bee plates, too!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks delicious! And love those bee plates!
ReplyDeleteLinda, you know I'm all a buzz over your bee-ut-i-ful table setting! Bee still my heart! Looks like our trip is still on to CA on Sunday. The three national parks remain open, and we've confirmed all our reservations from Monterey Bay to Carmel to Ragged Point to Paso Robles too. Only part of the trip is lacking is getting to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI don’t know which one I like best, the bees or the sunflowers. Both are lovely! I like how you mixed up other elements in the plate stacks, too. The Courtly Check looks pretty with both, and the Courtly Check cake stand is gorgeous.
