Spring Blossoms in Backyard 2023

This time of year, the backyard looks lovely dressed in purple hues from Wisteria, lilacs, lavender and rosemary. Don't you just love spring time?

It rained last night.  you can still the water droplets on the lilacs.

The lavender is just starting to bloom.

We used to have more lavender circling around, however the gardener helper cut a drip line and we lost a row of lavender.

The Lady Bank roses are just starting open.  They are late this year.  I  the past, they always bloomed around my birthday. the first of April.

A closeup of the  Lady Bank roses.

This time of year, everything in the backyard looks so pretty.  I wish it would last longer.

We also have lots of rosemary growing.

The wisteria is also coming on.

This Japanese maple is located by our Koi pond.  I have two more hummingbird feeders here.

The hummingbirds love it here.  They are here year round. I buy very large bags of sugar to feed these hungry little birds. The little red tulip  shaped cups hold water to prevent the ants from getting into the feeder.  They do work.

We have various dog statues around the yard.

This one reminds us of our first Schnauzer, Sasha whom we miss very much.

Every year birds make their home in the sun's mouth.

  3. Gorgeous Linda! Love the purples and especially the wisteria. I'm envious of your year 'round hummers! They're so entertaining to watch, I can't get over how they share feeders, ours are so territorial.

  4. Your backyard is gorgeous with all the purple hues flowers, Linda! Gee, your gathering of hummingbirds is amazing. I usually get just three or four from late spring to early fall. And I did order the ant deterrent cup last year. Yes, it really does work! Thanks for recommending it!

  5. It’s like a kaleidoscope of blooming color in your yard, Linda! I love seeing your hummingbirds. I get squirrels at my bird feeder and they’ve acquired a taste for the expensive hot bird seed that they’re not supposed to like. How fun to get birds in the mouth of the sun!

  11. Great garden. In Poland, spring flowers bloom: tulips, daffodils, sapphire, hyacinths... It was nice to explore your garden. This is the first time I've seen hummingbirds so close to home. Regards Linda.

  16. Linda, your spring flowers are really beautiful. Your garden is always beautiful and showy no matter the season. We are so much later up here. I am now just getting leaf buds on the lilac and wisteria. The heavy snows and then some harsh frosts did a number on the garden so don't expect too much this year..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
