Cinco de Mayo Ideas

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  I had every intention of hosting a dinner party for friends alfresco.  Unfortunately I had to cancel due to a injury.  I was working in the yard, actually by the new waterfall when I attempted to hang a heavy flower basket on a hook.  As I lifted and reached, I heard something pop!  Wow, pain set in and I hobbled into the house.

I am not sure what it is exactly.  I have actually have pain in the butt, lower left side and upper back of my thigh.  I have been living with a heating pad for days.  I went to the doctor today and the doctor is not  quite sure what is injured.  A tendon or muscle.  Time will tell.  So sorry to disappoint. I re-schedule my dinner party when I am better.

I set this table up in the breakfast room a few years back/  I love all of the colors, so bright and festive.

My husband always makes this Sangria recipe.  Sangria Sangria.  It has over 1,212 reviews with 4.8 rating.

Yummy Chicken Enchiladas from Tyler Florance.

Fiesta off the study with a margarita and chips with quacamole.

I am sharing some fun recipes I have made. I made cookie bowls and homemade strawberry ice cream.  The cookie bowls were created from my mini bundt cake pan.  I just turned it over and sprayed pam and laid the cookie dough circles on each bundt. Just use your basic cookie dough recipe or change it up with flavors or mini chocolate chips.

This recipes comes from Better Homes and Garden.  These Apple Pie tacos are an easy dessert, made with small 4 inch tortillas stuffed with apple filling.  Add some whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel and you are going to so happy!
This morning I whipped up some. If you enjoy churros, you will love the flavor or this tacos shells.  Feel free to use corn or flour tortillas.  They are coated with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.  Yumm!

A flan is always a lovely dessert for Cinco de Mayo. I made some with this recipe.

Have a fun filled Cinco de Mayo.

    1. Thank you Gail. I hope it isn’t serious either. The weather has been chilly and rainy this week, so I don’t feel bad about not being able to garden. I hope time heals it. Happy weekend.

  4. Oh Linda so sorry about your injury. I hope that starts to feel better. Your table looks beautiful and the food choices yummy. Take care. Here's the nurse in me!!!! Ice for pain and then alternate heat for healing. Heat brings blood and lowers inflammation and ice relieves pain. Alternating should help. Hugs. Kris

  6. Sorry to hear about your injury -- sounds so painful. I hope it eases up for you soon. All your desserts look so delicious, and your husband's sangria -- wow! I got absolutely hammered on sangria once when I was in university and never drank it again, but I would be tempted by that glassful!

  8. Oh, no! I hope they can find out just what went amiss and get it straightened out quickly. I know how much that kind of pain not only hurts and inhibits your activity but also just affects your own mind... at least, it does me. But you always have the best ideas, Linda. And I'm sure when you party is rescheduled all your friends will love it. And a party like this doesn't need to be May 5 -- any day would be wonderful. Please take care and I hope you are much better and soon.
