A Fall Wine Dinner

Welcome to the Welcome Fall Blog hop.  I know it isn't fall yet, but I am sharing some fall inspiration for this wonderful upcoming season. Fall is such a lovely time of year. Cooler weather which means good sleeping weather, comfort food and fall's beautiful color.

If you are coming over from Mary's blog, Home is Where the Boat Is, I bid you a big welcome.  Many thanks to our gracious host, Rita for organizing this blog hop. You will find 17 more welcome fall  inspiration links toward the bottom of this post.

This table is rich with the color of  plums and purple, and burgundy.  I created a fall wine theme with grapes.  The beautiful wood of our dining table is a nice canvas for these colors. I tucked purple napkins between the plates so no napkin ring is needed.

I thought instead of using  a table runner, I am using the colorful leaf placemats down the center of the table.  The placemats are from Pier1. I sure shopping in person at Pier 1. The small appetizer wine plates I bought years ago. The centerpiece is fresh cabbage, eggplant, radishes, artichokes and grapes.

For this wine dinner, I have created two smaller charcuterie boards with baguettes, assorted cheeses, salami and prosciutto and of course grapes.
The vineyard painting in our  dining alcove invites you in. The woven  square placemats go nicely with the square plates and bowls.  They also add some needed texture.
The grape bottles I created using flat sided gems, hot glue and fairy lights.  Paul drilled a hole at the bottom of each wine bottle so I could add the fairy lights.  An easy diy project for a lovely wine dinner table. Two wine decanters with a wooden stopper sit on the table for easy pouring.

These wooden candlestick holders I created with the help of my husband. We had these wood pieces leftover from the wooden box he built me.  They are actually legs. He drilled a hole large enough for a candle. I glued the two pieces of legs together and stained them. An affordable way to create candle holders. The candles are battery candles, very safe and they also have a remote.  You can see that elegant wooden box Paul built below.

  2. Good morning, Linda. Your table is a wonderful nod to my favorite season. The vibrant colors of plums, purples, and burgundy are a lovely segue way to autumn. The colorful leaf placemats are a great foundation for your centerpiece of vegetables, the hand-made wooden candle stands, and the grape bottles. The square wicker placemats add beautiful texture to your square plates. I love a charcuterie board and they are the perfect accompaniment for a wine dinner. It is always a pleasure to visit your dining room and pull up a chair at one of your gorgeous tables. Happy Autumn!

  4. Good Morning Linda, I’d love to join you for a fall wine dinner…your vineyard on the niche of your bar area invites us right in! It's been 10 years since we visited California's beautiful wine country.... alas, I'm a white- knuckle flier and it's a long flight from NC. Your box makes a perfect fall centerpiece seated on your grapevine table runner. Paul is so handy adn I love your grape fairy light bottles too. Love how your hobnail glasses mimic the cluster of grapes and complement your wine-themed dinnerware. As always, it’s a treat to have a virtual seat at your table. Happy Tuesday and Almost Fall ♥

The leaf placemats look so pretty as a table runner and the centerpiece of fresh fruit and vegetables is wonderful. The fairy light wine bottles you made are so pretty, I love them! I also love the little square wine and grape plates, and the charcuterie boards, perfect! I hope you will invite friends over to wine and dine!

  7. Those are battery candes? They're terrific. I love this table, Linda. It's warm and comfortable, yet elegant. It's all beautiful but for me the two standouts are your stunning centerpiece and your creative use of the leaf mats (which are beautiful on their own) as a runner. That's just spectacular. And kudos to talented Paul for those candlesticks. The wood is perfect with your color scheme.

  17. Wine is one of my favorite things, Linda, and seeing your setting brought back fond memories of harvest time in Tuscany. Deep, rich colors are favored by Italians and you certainly brought that element into your tablescape. The box your husband built is lovely..He did a great job. Thanks for the "diy" ideas. Always great to be able to construct something not found in a store. Have a great Fall.

  18. Linda, I love the rich and classic look of your wine tablescape. The colors are so elegant against your lovely wood table. Your husband is so handy and you both have created a gorgeous centerpiece and candlesticks. I am so happy you also used various vegetables for your design. I did also and there is something so incredibly inviting and homey by using food as part of the display. Your use of various textures really adds to the vineyard look and your lovely art work in the background really places me in the middle of wine country. Would love to have a glass of fragrant wine just about now. Hall Fall, Linda. As always it is great to blog hop with you.

  19. Linda, so elegant! I think the deep hues of purple and burgundy just look so rich especially in your finely appointed dining room!! You brought back some memories for me with this table, I grew up in a town that had many grape vineyards right along Lake Erie. My dog would go over to the vineyard just across the street and comeback with purple all over his mouth from eating the, right off the vines. Our Ohio wines are too sweet for me though- a lot of the grapes were sold to Welch’s for jelly. Your leaf placemats as a runner bring in beautiful color and your candle holders came out great!! Just a lovely setting !! I hope you have an enjoyable autumn season!🍂🍁🧡

  24. Linda, I love the idea of wine as a fall focus. It’s the time when grapes are harvested so it’s a perfect theme. I can’t believe you made those grape bottles. What a clever DIY project and they look awesome on your table.

  25. Those beautiful colors are making me smile and I love the flowers in that pedestal vase. You sure know how to set a table!

  26. This is quintessential California to me, Linda - a lovely spread of charcuterie with wine, in a wine tasting atmosphere! Your dining room is totally that place, with the chandelier, soft muted colors of fall in the table setting, and those diy bottled lights. Those lights you made are really nice! You did a great job mimicking a cluster of grapes with the glass, and Paul's drill worked some magic on those and the wooden legs. Yankee ingenuity! I really enjoy this type of graze eating, and would love a seat there to enjoy the ambiance of it all. Happy September, and thank you for bringing your style to the hop for this very welcoming fall scape.
